MPEG4 TVs and Humax Foxsat Remote

My brother is in the market for an MPEG4 TV (with MHEG5) that can be operated with the Humax Foxsat Remote.

I know from experience that LG models seem to work OK using the Foxsat remote.

But can anyone confirm other MPEG4 TV brands/models that are Foxsat remote friendly?

Unless I am totally misunderstanding your post, the answer is "almost all of them". It's just a matter of putting the appropriate code into the Humax.

And why MPEG-4 sets? The Humax does the necessary decoding, so all you need is SCART or HDMI. My Panasonic plasma (HD, but analogue tuner), my Onkyo AV receiver and an old Sony DVR all handled by the Humax remote.

    OK,

I guess I should have been clearer.

The setup I'm talking about will have the Foxsat (for Freesat) and for Irish DTT he wants a TV with Saorview capability. The objective is to control this setup with a single remote (ideally the Foxsat's remote)

I realise that the Foxsat comes with a remotes codes book, but I'd imagine some brands are not included (Walker for instance?)

As the Foxsat remote is not a learning remote I just want to be aware of any TVs to blacklist if there is no Humax remote code for that brand.

Ah - penny drops! Could be an issue with the latest TVs all right. My Panny was a couple of years old when I got the Foxsat, although the Onkyo was brand new. The SKY remotes have a similar issue with new (or less well known brand) TVs, but they are continually upgraded with new codes when a handset revision comes out. The same won't be true of the Foxsat remote unfortunately. It's a pretty crap remote, truth be told - bad layout. Mainstream TVs like LG, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung have the best chance of working with the Foxsat remote. You might have to go into a store and try various codes with a Walker TV:D

Not totally compatible with my Sharp. Can switch from HDMI to DTT no problem using Humax remote no problem, but can not switch back to Humax as source button brings up list of sources but arrows dont move cursor to toggle through them.
Have seen the same issue on some other brands too.

The problem with the Humax remote is they give you codes for LG say, and they give you 50 codes, but give no clue as to which code to use. Some codes work some of the buttons, and their suggestions is to try them all until you find one that works. Not very helpful in my mind.

Another problem will come about if you have Humax Freesat AND Humax FreeviewHD. It is possible to get the remotes to not fight each other, but it is not possible to get the one remote to control them both. They had not thought of that.

    Same as most other remotes.
We have a sky HD box (FTA only) and the remote is too old to support the TV. The TV needs a Rev 8 Sky remote or later.
My son replaced our Home theatre Amp and separate DVD player/Recorder with a BluRay player/Home Theatre Combo (LG €240) so at least we are down one, nearly two, as the LG TV remote can do some functions on the BD HT kit and the new LG remote on the BD HT kit does some TV functions.

I have a a better solution for all this crazy than the Logitech one. But time consuming to implement.
