Whats a Hop up rubber degree ?

Seen 50% and 70% hop up rubber degree mentioned
on different sites yet no explanation as to what the heck
it actually is. Is it the hardness of the rubber compared to
    a set or a "control" standard that I don't know about ??

    50% and 70% of what ?
what exactly is 100% and what is the unit of measure and what is being measured ?

EDIT: It wont let me delete the post! just saw a reply
from Deburca from a while back that offers an explanation.
"SHORE hardness" being the measuring system for rubber

degree when talking about buckings is a description of the property's of the rubber , lower numbers are softer, 50degree is softer than 60degree for example

In short, The softer rubber allows more friction to be imparted on the bb... so less hop, is more effect, more spin... However at higher fps, harder rubbers are needed to grip it enough to spin it, at the high speed. Hence the difference... soft, for lower fps, harder for higher, and durability.

Fitting a hard to a support gun is advisable for longevity, for example.

yer softer generally means a shorter life span before it need to be replaced, soft buckings can need to be changed after 15 - 20 rds at times, just something people sometimes forget about,

Be nice to have an open FAQ/Document that users
    could add valid info too.
(and also have some form or way of keeping bull **** out of it)

    Along the lines of:
    Buzzwords/Glossary

    Problem/Cause/solutions tables.

Systems: System 7's GBB vs whatever was before, Gear box versions, parts and how they interact. sector gears,
tappet plates, all that lovely techy stuff insert here.

Range/groupings/FPS/ROF/speed vs accuracy vs rof interactions based on your role. And what a dummy could change without getting too techy.
People often forget that the average Joe just may simply buy and airsoft gun and expect the thing to work wonders
out of the box (and that will have ZERO knowledge at that point of time when it comes to starting airsoft)

Airsoft tactics, separate real steel world with airsoft world and get down to what works in airsoft when you playing an game rather than what works if you were a real solider in the real world. (I think its important to show that airsoft is a game! and pretending to play a solider and actually being a member of a real army or defense force are completely different things.)

One of my biggest hang ups I have with airsoft is
I treat it as a pastime/game/hobby sport. And I have no
illusions that its anything else. All too often I see
more youthful than myself types post things that would
make me think they are in a world of their own thinking somehow they can use the skill they learn in airsoft
in the real world. Walter Mitty eat your heart out types. (and they don't even know who Walter Mitty is!)
(PS. Sat night and its a Drunk post from Bullets! so apologizes in advance for when I sober up
in the morning and found I may have insulted anyone)

I'm up for writing a section of this if others want to help too ? Lets do something positive to make this site a great rescource for players new and old.

Also Mitty ftw :D If anyone actually knows the background to mitty I'd be impressed (without a google), I want the title! (random also semi drunk postings, but sincere.... *hick*

Can I have a go at this bit?

Would have to volunteer mr Pudmeister for the internals... the man is a shaman of airsoft.... much voodoo he do.... But only if he wants to do it.
