    Hi Lads,

Went in to 3 on tuesday to get a new sim card (phone lost so cancelled - then was returned to me on wednesday).
The girl in the shop told me i was entitled to an upgrade and offered me the iphone 3gs for free.
So now it's residing in a wardrobe waiting to be unleashed.....

Here's where you boardsies come in....

Any tips for a novice phone user
Any particular type of case/protector to buy
Should i take insurance out on it - not insured on my contract
Any app's that i should install

    Anything else to add?

I have a samsung galaxy - used to make calls with only (no data add on's) - this is a big leap forward for a luddite like me to have a gadget like this!!
    Thanks in advance.

JellySms or Eirtext are app that let you use your webtexts, certainly pick up one of those. Personally I never bother with phone insurance, I believe that's for the "glass half empty" school of loser. There's a thread at the top of the page that will give you a great selection of what sort of apps areout there.

Set up what ever email account you use on your i phone - its a revelation!! :D

Still cant get over how much more productive you can be when you dont have to be near a computer to read your mail. Even better than that is the email photo function great for sharing whats going on with your friends and family.

You will need to get a data allowance to get the full functionality out of it.

Also do you have wifi at home?
