I have a sick laptop that needs reinstall but the owner no longer has the original restore discs. The machine is a Pentium M unit with 1GB RAM and Wifi/Bluetooth.

Any chance anyone here might have the restore discs to sell or lend ? There is a genuine CD Key on the laptop do technically I don't think this is illegal ? The Key won't work with any OEM version of XP I have.

    Thanks in advance.

If it's PRO then HOME disks won't work, you must borrow a disk that matches the COA on the bottom of the laptop.

Double check it's not NT4 or 2000 , on the offchance (though I may be getting mixed up with earlier D600's)

I reckon the D610 came with XP by default? I had one myself reckon i have a dell disc lying around I could let you download same as an ISO ? you will need your own codes, but if the dell BIOS is correct it will not require a cd key.

    Thanks guys !

It's definitely Windows XP Professional Edition. There is a valid XP COA Key on the underside of the laptop so as you say the Dell CDs shouldn't require a KEY.

Tech if you PM me the location of the disc iso I'd be very grateful !! Perhaps at the next Boards Beers - when is that by the way ?! - I can repay your good deed.
