    moneybookers prepaid mastercard
you can top it up online and internet cafes are everywhere to be found in thailand
the withdrawal fees are very reasonable too, including the fx rate..
No matter what card you use, there is a chunky charge the thai banks apply

oh, and the card worked nearly everywhere i tried it

yes but thats subject to fraud aswell just like a regular c card

but you dont have to carry large amounts of money on the card..
With internet cafes and atm's being everywhere there, you can just lodge money onto the card as you need it and then hit the atm leaving zero balance on the card..
No matter what electronic medium you use, there is always the potential for fraud..

What kind of fraud are you talking about?

If your only going for two weeks, just take out the money in ATM's,its only 150baht each time and depending on who your bank is here so whatever they charge, just take out enough for one week then when thats finished do the same the following week.

Don't forget that the AIB are limiting overseas withdrawls to €100 per 24 hours since the middle of last month...

And whilst Thailand may be cheap for somethings... €100 will go nowhere if you like to party or xpect a cecent level of comfort in your travels and accomadation....

So if you are with the AIB you will def need to get a moneybookers or neteller card... its what i have prdered for my forthcoming trip

Note the AIB limit is on ATM cards, but not on their credit cards. Depending on the CC if you put it in credit you will not be charged any fee at all by AIB on ATM withdrawals and can take out much more. There is a fee if you are not in credit. You will still be charged by the local bank if applicable (most countries I have been have no charges but I know Thailand does) but the same goes for any other ATM card. I would be less worried about CC fraud than theft carrying wads of cash with me.

I rang AIB a few weeks ago and there are most definitely credit card charges whether your in credit or not. (obv more if your not in credit). Its 1.75% of the withdrawal amount if your in credit.

You have to factor in ATM charges as well(€3 in Thailand per withdrawal).

It depends on the specific card. I believe there are charges on their newer "Click" card. I have an older card and was charged €2.50 when my account was in debit (under 'cash advance fee') but nothing when the a/c was in credit. These transactions were in the last month, I was using my ATM card until they put on the €100 limit. I believe their Platinum card works like this also (free in credit.) Other cards may have similar rules but you need to check with the provider.
