NBS 3/SBI Satellite broadband - Wireless Router Dropping Connection

    Hi folks,

I'm in the rural broadband scheme with 3 and because of my location am using a satellite issued by Satellite Broadband Ireland.

This works fine when I connect the modem to my PC via a network cable. However I also try to use my old SMC wireless router so I can access the internet on my laptop in other rooms / smartphone etc. The initial connection is fine but it drops out after some time (anywhere from a few mins to a few hours) and I need to reboot my modem, router and laptop to get back up and running.

3 Support just tell me to stick to a wired connection, some googling says its a dhcp issue but I'm completely in the dark.

It must be a router issue as the 'wired' connection is grand. I did call satellite broadband Ireland to see if they can assist and they suggest a new router (Apple Airport the tech recommends).

Before I spend any money on a new router, does anyone else have any experience of this or make any recommendations on a router?

    Thanks all.
