Hi all, I'm at the end of my tether on this one and I've turned google inside out trying to find a solution but with no luck.

I backed up my last XP laptop with the Files and Settings Transfer wizard onto an external HD. Not long after that, the laptop died so I went and bought a new one with windows 7 on it. Windows 7 doesn't recognise the DAT files that the XP backup program created. They're all about 2gigs in size and apparently incompatible with Microsoft's new backup system.

I tried to run Virtual XP but my hardware doesn't support virtualisation apparently. Currently I don't own another computer or even an XP disk to partition the hard drive on this one and install XP there.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what else I can do or should I just say goodbye to my backed up data?
