I have a potential good deal on my lap with the above. 2004, 28k miles and in immaculate condition.

Ok, a so called girlie car but looks great in black so dont care :)

Anybody have any experience with them?

    Thanks in advance

They are supremely reliable, think Honda and Toyota of the 90s and that's how good they are, light on fuel and nothing too expensive goes wrong on them. Decently spacious too. If you like them and realise they are not performance orientated than you can't go wrong really. Very, very decent cars.

I've had one for 2 years and find it great! Never found anything "girlie" about it. Looks and drives great. Done about 35,000km so far mainly driving Dublin to cork and it responds quick when u push the pedal! Reliability can not be faulted either!
    Enjoy it.

Much obliged RoverJames and a nice few words to read about the jammer.

Considering i currently drive a 2L guzzler, is the 1.6L reasonable on the pocket; fuel wise?

Thanks again. Oh and i'm not in it for speed and performance. More for reliability, comfort and the economical values :)

Wouldn't be far off a 1.6 Golf or 1.6 Focus. They are tall geared. Only thing is the actual gearbox is less than silky to use but that's a Hyundai thing :)

Just make sure the sunroof is working ok, a knackered motor is a common problem and expensive to replace.

Evo? Don't remember this model, does that mean fibreglass kit I wonder? Any link?

It's a UK "limited edition" model.

Always found the second generation hyundai coupe a fairly good looking car. The 1.6 is mean't to be a bit gutless although its a good bit cheaper to tax than the 2 litre variant.

Hyundai's are reliable machines from what i can evaluate. Oh & I don't think they're girly looking at all.

Just got rid of my 2004 Coupe a few weeks ago. Be prepared for €450 tax and €50 a week in petrol at least, i used to spend that much just going to work for the week, if i went anywhere else you could add another 20.

As others have said, very reliable. Not particularly pokey but maybe the EVO is slightly nippy-er.

Your details on fuel consumption were lacking quantative data, ie how many miles you travelled per fifty euro. YOu could be living 5 or 30 miles from work !

OP had a 2L for about 3 years nothing fell off, broke or wore out. Did my own service but no big expense for service parts.

Friend had a 1.6 and I found it a little gutless just in normal traffic I think I was doing an average of 40mpg in mine and he was pressed to do much better.

I know there was not much in it anyway apart from tax costs.

Pretty bullet proof never had or heard any issues.

We have one. Missus was craving for a 1.6 Coupe and she won out in the end!

Sat down 1 week after we bought it - engine control module fault. Lucky it was under warranty. Dealer got it repaired in Cork and reprogrammed keys etc. No issues since (7mths).

Only used about the town so low miles - no idea what its like on petrol but I would imagine its not the most economical.

Herself loves it so that's a result!
