Nice video how long has he been performing out there?

I used to fish off the Pier and around Howth never saw him around. Mind you come to think of it that was quite a few years ago now :(

According to that ole fella Darwin there will be a colony of Charlies there in a few decades/centuries smart cookie :)

Unfortunately, he won't be around much longer. In their infinite wisdom, they've slapped a notice up threatening up to a €5,000 fine for feeding them. The shops can't sell the scraps anymore.

Thats stupid in fairness. The amount of tourists who were amazed at them, the fishermen fed them too. Will be another thing to blame now for lack of fish for some fishers i reckon.

what was the logic (if any) behind that?
interesting to note that the bye law mentioned is from 1979, yet the fine is in euros.

What offence are you commiting though?
why was it brought in? Stupid imo. There last summer we were there and a bus load of chinese or japanese (they look the same to me) were there. When a man fed them with his kids they went in all delighted to buy some too. I dont think the tourists will be as excited with this block capital warning.

Heath and Saftey reasons, they are afraid someone will fall in,cannot afford to put up a Fence/Railings so a Sign was the cheaper option.
Maybe if they make enough Money from Fines they can then afford a propper Fence/Railings and all feeding can resume.
