have you tried asking him if he changed anything?

yeah java script is enabled and yes i did ask him but he says its not due to what he did but captchas are gone since he tried to make my laptop run faster. Plus i got him to put it back to the way it was and he did but he def did something it does not just disappear in my opinion.

I have created a Captcha control previously for a project, I'm a developer by trade. Generally, Captcha's are static images that are created in code-behind i.e. on the server and then just rendered on the browser (generally).

What browser is this happening on? Have you tried resetting the browser settings to default? Is the browser up to date? Simple test would be to go to gmail and try to create a new account. You should see a Captcha control at the bottom of the page..

Flash is very unlikely to be the problem. It's most likely to be a JavaScript issue I think. Even if JavaScript is enabled in your browser, it could still be blocked by a browser add-on such as 'no-scipt' in firefox. A lot of captcha systems use third-party captcha services (i.e you'll be on something.com and the captcha box will be retrieved from captcha.com) so watch out for any settings that say something like 'Block 3rd party...'. Try disabling all the extensions (or download a fresh copy of opera or chrome and see if they have the same problem, or re-install your browser of choice).
