Races for climbers

I'm in my first year racing A4 and what i have noticed so far is that if you can't sprint (like myself), your chances of success are slim. I would be more suited to a hillier race which separate the sprinters from the climbers.

Is there any race like this coming up?

Haven't done any racing myself but I gather that you shouldn't be avoiding races where you know you'll be dropped, you should be using them as an opportunity to improve your skills.
It's only your first year, so you can't expect to be leading the pack or placing in the top 10%.
If sprinting is your weak point, then you should really be aiming to do more races which depend on sprinting so that you get more used to sprinting tactics and concentrate your training on improving your sprinting.

That way when next year comes around you have strong climbing and sprinting and could be a contender.

You're in luck. Carlow on Sunday is just what you've been looking for. Savage race.

The Des Hanlon this sunday in Carlow? That's a Climber's race. Unless you want a Mountain Top finish ... ? In which case you might want to try moving to France ;)

I thought I could climb OK until I did the Des Hanlon.

yep, got caught behind someone who crashed tho so lost the leading group towards the end. Just when I was about to dish out some pain and all!!

I know i'm just being greedy now but any other climbing events coming up?

I think the Harry Reynolds is tough enough but haven't done it. Your best bet is to check out here on boards.ie in the week before to find out details about the races on each weekend.
