A Swedish director who the late great Ingmar Bergman called a "genuis". He's probably know for his first three Films which certainly are his best

Those three films put him on the map won him a ton of awards and praise. After that it seems like it has gone down hill, A hole in the Heart and Container weren't exactly easy watches and are very avant garde. His first english lanuage film with Michelle williams certainly hasn't stopped the rot sadly with mixed reviews.

so anyone a fan of Moodysson's work?

I adore Together, the film that taught me Abba isn't necessarily a bad word (just most of the time). I like Lilya 4 Ever - grim stuff, perhaps too grim if such a thing is possible. But it's also a vital, chilling piece of social commentary. Certainly a hard film to ignore. Hole in the Heart, however, is a film well worth ignoring. Boy does that try too hard - basically a feature length montage of increasingly grim, depressing stuff. I don't like the word pretentious but it fits that description - the attempts at being arty and shocking come across pitifully. A disaster of a film IMO. I bought that and Container cheap based on Moodysson's name - the crushing disappointment (and horrible taste left in my mouth) of the former hasn't given me much incentive to watch the latter.

Still haven't got to see ****ing Amal, have always wanted to but getting it legally (I know, how quaint) has proven a pain without having to buy a boxset of films I already own! But definitely must check it out. Together at least was a wonderful and warm film, and I believe Show Me Love is much praised. But he seems to have gone increasingly off the rails, which is a damn shame.

Container was really a disappointing film, its Moodysson i feel trying to push his film fans to the edge. A hole in the heart is okay for it is but after his first three films it just lacked excuse the pun "heart".

Show Me Love (horrible title by the way for the oversea market) is on youtube right now and well worth checking out. Its my favourite Moodysson film, its not as hard hitting as Lilya 4 ever but its probably for me the best film on the lives of teenagers i ve seen. When People read the tagline of Lesbian love story they think its just about that but its much more then just that. Together runs it close for my Favourite .
