Seen as i started it i would be the first to do it. LH

Taylormade R11 Driver : I am finding it a major asset in my bag as it has helped so much from all the changeable qualities in it, as you can change the loft, how it sits i.e open, closed and neutral and weight to help either with a draw or a neutral effect it has also given me an extra 20 yards on drive and when i grip and rip i gain about an extra 30-40 as instead of ball going anywhere with all the technology in club it helps it go to its target. I have liked this club so much i have ordered the R11 fair way wood and R11 rescue club.

Mizuno MP 53 Irons (4-PW) : all i can honestly say about the irons is wow as i was looking for a club that would give me a lot of feedback and mother god does them irons do that, the feel alone is unbelievable.

Mizuno MP T11 52 degrees : as i lost my SW in my iron set there was a lovely deal going on with mizuno, if you bought their irons set to PW you where given a MP T11 wedge free and i must say once again like the same response as the irons i liked this club so much i have ordered a 56 and a 60 degree wedges and am waiting for them to come in

Why does it matter if RH or LH?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭veetwin

FWIW just bought new Taylor Made R9 460 (LH) in McGuirks. €199. Updated from an ancient Big Bertha. Only used it on the range so far but I already like it alot.

Does the white not make you feel like a tw$t with the R11? I was talking to the pro at the driving range and he reckons you have to be hitting seriously good golf shots to carry off a white driver, I tend to agree :p

I think much like the R9, the adjustability just masks a bad swing; and while you should improve in the short term, eventually all the swing faults creep back into your game. It's pretty much like changing your putter, you get an initial success due to the change in mindset and not an improvement in technique. Some people look for quick fixes and Taylormade thrive on this; by the time people start to slip back into their old patterns, they have the latest and greatest technology out to fix it and hense the never ending cycle of changing drivers begins.

Personally though I'd go for an R9 over the 11, as it's cheaper and doesn't look naff. Tried both and thought I had better distance on the R9 but ended up sticking with my FT-9 as I was losing distance with them.

Does anyone else feel the white is just clever marketing? I don't buy into the contrast of the white making it easier to line up shots.

r11 s quite a good driver but it only puts it in a bunch with about a dozen other drivers so clever marketing is needed to make it stand out. so white, adjustable ect is all just trying to get people to notice it. all in all though its a huge waste of money if you ask me the gimmiks are their to try and justify the price. a good driver none the less so can't exactly slam the performance but it dose make me think that if someone using it they didn't try a g15 or i15.

but looking at the way Mcginley and Kaymer look at it i don't think they actually like it that much.

Got me some Callaway Razr X irons. Upgraded from Nike sumo irons as I was steadily improving my ball striking and hated the huge cavity on the Nikes. Absolutely in love with the new irons. Much more feel and feedback on the shots. Good strike just spring off the face. I've gained two clubs in distance on the longer irons and made my 24 degree hybrid redundant. Beautiful clubs for a high-mid handicapper looking to come down. My first experience with Callaway, I'm 26. Very very impressed

MD Golf 2011 SuperStrong ST 460 Titanium Driver

Got the 10.5 degree, regular shaft. Upgraded from an old offset ProStaff thing that I could never hit (have the three and five wood of same that I've always hit well). Had it out a few times and it's a lovely club, very forgiving and some great distance and a lovely sound when you get it out of the middle. Only problem is that because it's not offset and the other woods are I've started to develop a hook with the old trusty 3 and 5 so will be looking to upgrade them soon.

MD Golf Norman Drew Standard Bounce Cobalt Wedge

60 degree wedge, lambkin grip, dynamic gold regular shaft. First proper wedge I've really had and I'm probably over using it as I'm trying to develop a feel for it. Great out of the sand and for those 50-60 yard pitches, lovely feel and I think we'll be good friends.

Taylor Made Rossa Monte Carlo Sport (I think, the centre shafted model anyway). I'm a dreadful putter and I know it's more the action than the putter but I liked the feel of this when I tried it out and I'm hoping it will help. Really need to spend some time on a practice green because it's a bit hit and miss at the moment. Had 40 odd putts in South County on Tueasday, no one putts, and I think 6 three putts! Going straight out without taking a few putts on the practice green was a killer, I had played 9 holes in Hazel Grove the week before and there was just no comparison, Hazel Grove was pretty rough and South County was immaculate and very quick. First society outing of the year next Friday in Sutton and I'm hoping things will go a little better. I like the feel of the putter and it gets the ball rolling nice and smoothly, if the operator improves I'm sure it's a very nice piece of kit.

This buying new golf stuff is an addictive business, I'd love new fairway woods and irons too.

Got a cleveland mashie 20.5deg utility to review it for free. Not impressed with it at all, everything draw/hooking with it. Traded it in at local golf shop and got Cobra baffler h-rail 19deg, the difference is huge. Hit the cobra straight about 220yards, best club I ever got.

Oh yeah, I'm left handed... but I play right handed

RH Clubs. Just bought a new set of Irons last week Nike Machspeed Steel shaft. Have gone back to Steel shaft as after 5 years perseverence with my dunlop graphite shafts my inconsistency is not gone. Have gone from steady (stableford) high 20's low 30's with my old steel shaft clubs to anything from mid-teens to low 40's. Have complimented my set by aquiring the Machspeed driver also. Tried a lot of irons and they definately felt the best and tried about 5 drivers and that tied with the TaylorMade burner superfast driver as the most consistant and best feel. Havent been out on the course proper with the new set but looking forward to getting out next week and giving a proper test run.

MD Golf 2011 SuperStrong ST 460 Titanium Driver

Did ya get to try it out anywhere before buying or ya just liked the look of it?

Got MD superstrong woods on adverts last week but a friend has them as well so knew they were nice to hit.

Would'nt mind trying out that driver you got somewhere, don't know of a range that stocks their stuff.

The 12* offset MD EQL driver was also given to me and nice to hit but wanna go back to a 10.5 normal driver soon and had the one you got in mind.

    Taylor Made Tour Ghost Putter

Really like this. Great weight and feel off the face. Went for shorter length to let the arms hang a bit more. Not mad on the grip, feel of it is spot on but not keen on look of it.

Hitting it almost 200 yards, won it on ebay for 40 Euro, love it

I tried on of those ghost putters, weight is chronic too light, feel is very hollow, it does however roll the ball superbly and is very easy to hole putts with.

Liked the reviews, liked the look, liked the price and just took a chance on it. I don't play enough to be getting custom fit and spending 3 or 4 times the money. I tired a few different drivers in American Golf on the simulator just to check that a regular shaft and set up would more or less suit.

Custom Pro Golf is where I ordered from. It looks like they have a big store in Antrim if you were willing to travel a bit. http://www.customprogolf.co.uk/new-golf-superstore-now-open-296-c.asp
