I'm surprised by the lack of reference to Marilyn Manson on this board, personally I Love everything about the guy/band but I've yet to hear a boardsie view, and not just from a musical perspective!

He was voted the worse dressed celeb by PETA. Went did PETA make the move from w***ing on about animal cruelty to being fashion moguls?

He went downhill after Mechanical Animals.

    Korn are better ;)

    Rammstein even better.

Yeah. He's sh1te. Seen a picture of him recently with no eyebrows/makeup. I think he was in court. Looked a bit weird. But weird in a normal way if that makes sense.

it's not that it's not shocking any more, it's just that the music hasn't been very good in years

    It was never shocking.

He had a few decent albums ( although every one of them has its excruciatingly bad low points, aswell as good songs). His last two albums have been worse than crap, just gallingly bad. Not to mention that he is now nothing more than an over the hill, coked-out, beer bellied caricature of the man he once was.
That said, his autobiography, along with that of Boy George, was one of the most entertaining I think I have ever read.

Don't like his music or the look of him but he seems like a very intelligent nice person. Would love to have a pint with him.

Well, OP, in asking your question about and expressing your dismay about the dearth of Marilyn Manson mentions in this forum, you've gone some way towards addressing the problem, as you percieve it.
I even mentioned him in replying to you. I can only commend you on your work.

Yes, but that was a good few years ago. I think this excerpt from X-press magazine might go some way towards showing what an utter tool-shed he now is ..
It seems that Marilyn Manson has put his foot in his mouth after trying to discredit a review of his recent Perth concert, published in The Australian.

Manson stated on his MySpace blog that ‘Paula Coufos tried to **** me. And when I said no she wrote an embarrassing review in the Australian. I hope no one harms her in any creative, violent way. She isn't really smart and her writing is worse than her looks.’

Unfortunately for Manson, the reviewer responsible for the piece was renowned Australian music journalist ‘Polly’ Coufos, who is, in fact, a man – Polly being his childhood nickname.

Had this review have actually been written by a woman, as Manson wrongly assumed it was, then the fabricated insinuation that the review was revenge for a rejected sexual advance would have come down to a mere matter of ‘his word versus hers’ – a horrible situation for any woman to be in.

Thankfully, with Coufos being very much certifiably male, the only damage done has been to Manson’s own credibility.

    Instant karma, as it were."

There is an "all things retro" forum for irrelevant 90's pop minstrels such as Mr.Manson.

The only good thing about Manson was and always will be, John 5.

As a person tho, he is a nice guy and very intellegent. Its all a stage show yet you have people thinking he is something that he's not. A freak.

did you actually look at the video you quoted
like I said in an above post [but didnt elaborate on] was I used to think like the masses he was ****ed up metal rocker or whatever not my kind of music at all, but when I heard him talk so intilligently in that movie I was blown away with his humanity and perspective and 'the answer' he gave to the question, so insightfull this guy is a true artist and it takes one to know one ;), again not my bag at all, normally we only get to see music artists in their shows -->yes shows, its a show you go to to see especially with guys like manson but on the rare occasions you get to hear them talk about their perspective on many things it can be an eye opener for the masses as to how 'smart' some of these guys are beyond the stereotypical 'showmen'

Hi Sailia. I have seen the movie from which it was taken a few times, and I am 100% on the same page as you :) I guess I was making the supplementary point that the intelligent social commentary displayed in the video excerpt is not something the man is capable of anymore, which is sad. His brain is mush, and he couldn't be arsed keeping up the pretense.
But I am largely in agreement with you :)

I've never really had much time for MM, he just tries to hard. Much like that transexual - Lady Gaga.

Marilyn Manson and his devil tunes are responsible for all the badly behaved childern you see wandering around Dublin looking for violence and drugs.

I want the government to jail him.

    Surely you mean Johnny Logan?

I don't like his music, although Ramirez is the mastermind behind that element of the Marilyn Manson package anyway.

He's credited as an astute social critic, but he's not actually that insightful imo, he only has that reputation because of the company he's in as a mega-pop-star.

That said, I get the impression he's a nice guy.

Speaking as someone who was a huge Manson fan in years gone by (bought all the albums/singles/posters/books I could get my hands on) he was definitely a very talented musician and everything pre Holywood was actually really good. Everything was very clever social criticism and had ****loads of historical references and numerology involved in it if you wanted to be a crazy person like me and research all the clues!!

Holywood was post Columbine and that screwed him up a lot, it was a lot of filler and then Twiggy left and he was the driving force behind a lot of the really good stuff.

After GOAG things started to go downhill, EMDM was **** and then when Twiggy finally came back for The High End of Low, he had lost too many fans even though it wasn't a bad album (or an amazing one by any means). He also royally screwed over Pogo, who was in the band for 20 years and Manson took all his money. Then there was all the art and movies no-one cared about.

I think the killer blow for him was getting rid of the mansonusa messageboard, because we really were a last bastion of people willing to look at his stuff and buy things. When he got in a bitchfight with management of the site he put off a lot of people. Now I don't even think he has a record label anymore and he is like ridiculously fat and has a mullet.
