Hi Folks-hope you all had a good 'Patrick's Day.Hope I'm not being too long winded with this post.I was wondering if anyone had a knee injury like I have and may be able to offer some advice of the best way to proceed etc. I've had an MRI scan at Euromedic Cork and to quote "there is a multicystic abnormality noted within the Hoffa's Fat Pad"/ and "This is suggestive of meniscal cyst". The waiting list for Public treatment is well over two years while to have something done
immediately (in the same place-!! CUH) will be in the region of 200 euro assesment/consultancy and likely key hole surgery around 1600 euro.
If I was sure that would fix the problem I would do it right away but a
couple of Physio's have expressed doubt about the surgery saying that should be the last resort and may not cure the problem.Having said that I have spent months doing various exercises (since last May) and a small fortune at one physio or another without success. A chiropractor suggests a course of Ultrasound Diatherapy,Mobilization/Manipulation and re-hab.
This I'm slow to do as I've done a lot of this already without much success.
I'm inclined to go with the surgery at this point because all the physio work has not enabled me to run one mile since the injury occured, I
can use an exercise bike and cross trainer OK- I do 30 miles on the bike and 7 on the crosstainer in an hour and a half five days a week
but as I say can't run, when the pain starts it's like an electric shock
in my knee joint every step I take,it's not something you can't put up with.
    Any suggestions appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    JG
