What is the highest ratio in the country for JOINING FEE : GREEN FEE.

Can anyone beat a ratio of 200:1?

48 sounds like a reasonable ratio.

Have a look at the second page of the thread about Adare Manor for the club.

I wasn't expecting that a club presently holding the Irish Open would be looking for members so I just did a quick check. Not quite full membership but still it seems like a good offer as long as the €2,000 anually is not index linked.

What do ya mean by that??

I wouldnt say theyre looking for members, but they are accepting membership. I think You have to be kind of sponsered/referred by two other members before being accepted.

As a junior, I paid 500 entrance fee and 90 for the year, but we had to go through an assessment to get accepted.

€2,000 today would not be the same in real terms as €2,000 in 2022. They could say we are going to link it to the inflation rate so lets say inflation were on average 3% a year over the 10 years (1.03)to the power of 10 would give you a factor of 1.34 so divide €2,000 by 1.34 and you get the time value of €2,000 in the year 2022 (€1,482).

Thats my post that the 200:1 comes from... That is Shannon golf club midweek green fee with a €5 discount. Green fee is usually €25 midweek and €40 weekends. Still a crazy levy at €4000

To join killarney you must pay an annual fee of 2000eu for ten years before you become a full member(20,000eu).... if you consider the current green fee offer of play all three courses for 150e (50e per round) that equates to a very "impressive" 400:1 ratio....
luckily for me i've been a member since 1988,so ive never had to pay a joining fee:)

Well I think that is a special offer so the verdict is out on that one but still would probably be higher that the 200:1 at usual rates.

Gotta be Doonbeg. I could be wrong but I think the joining fee is still circa €75,000 while green fees are probably on average about €120ish ... A ratio of 625:1.

Ya, I don't think that anyone will beat that.

Apparently Shannon do a deal on the levy. Instead of €4000 up front you can pay €1900 a year for four years rather than €900 yearly after the levy is paid. All in all a great deal if you can manage to play twice a week for the next four years 
