i think you need to jailbreak to get "TV OUT" to watch paid content on your TV?

    You don't, why would you?

Which cable you need to get depends on whether your TV has composite (red, white and yellow) or component inputs (green, red and blue, with two optional red and white cables for audio).

I have a HDMI lead from my laptop to the TV. The picture is crap as my laptop has a useless graphics card.

It's a fairly new TV .... Could I connect the Itouch to the TV with a HDMI ?

If you can watch it on Itunes on the computer, why not just plug your laptop into the TV?

ebay! bound to have whatever combo of VGA / HDMI cables you need. Apple arent known for making devices easy to connect to other home electronics.

Apple have a specific cable to send video from your iPhone to your TV. See here - they'll be happy to relieve you of €39 + shipping.

Beware of eBay cables. I bought a similar non-Apple one that worked perfectly until the iPhone realised there was no Apple "chip" and disconnected it. ****.

This is very easy to do. Most TVs have an RBG (PC?) in slot - just get a standard PC monitor cable and run it from your laptop out to your TV.

I've done this a few times, but TBH have found either iTunes videos are screwed up, or my laptop is just not good enough to show anything except, jerky playback. (Despite me being able to play non-Apple HD avi's). After two movie rentals from iTunes I'm calling it a day.

Get an Apple TV, connect this to your telly with a HDMI cable, and steam any of your iPod contents (movie rentals, music, photos, whatever...) wirelessly to the TV, or better still rent the HD version of the movie directly on the Apple Tv.

How about something like this for video output: http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/IWANTIT-IPHUDK10-iPod-Docking-Station-Black/301530/196.2

I haven't tried it yet but it might work.

Apple tv isn't much in a cheaper alternative though is it?

Nope it's not cheap at €119 (plus a HDMI lead!) but it's the best solution I've come across.

How much would you expect to pay for the apple tv? This is an apple product that comes with their reliablity and extreme high quality . Its not a gadget from Lidl 's thursday morning special offers.

I personally expected this apple tv to be the same price as the first one and was surprised to see the price reduced. I consider €119 an extremely low price for any desirable gadget.

The first apple TV had its own storage capability which the latest slimmed down version did away with, so it's now strictly a streaming device - hence the lower price.

And it's excellent, I have to say. Fast and reliable, works so well. Delighted with it since August now.

    Nothing.
I simply connect my laptop/hard drive to the tv, cut out the €119 middle man.

And reliability and extreme high quality are not things that all of us associate with apple.

Look i'm a massive apple fan but this is such a fanboy comment. Cut it out, it's making me cringe.

this is such a fanboy comment.

    How exactly?

Both apple's euro & stateside returns percentage are extremly low which is testament to their high quality and if anyone finds € 119 euro expensive for a piece of modern technology they are going to find themselves with very few gadgets knocking about.I don't see how any of my comments " make u cringe"

I think there is more to it than that.
