New phone - do I need to use the new SIM

I got a new phone a while back on Meteor. I put my old SIM in it and everything's working fine, but I'm curious what to do with the SIM that came in the box with it (Bought over the phone direct from Meteor). Is there any reason I should start to use it (would anything get bigger/better/faster) or any risk I might need it if I just throw it away?

The new sim is most likely a new number, so therefore you dont need it
