    The Japanese can manage this in just 4 days, right in the middle of 3 disasters. And they manage to plant some bushes down the middle. What excuse do we have for the past 4 weeks in Carlow:

    I agree. What the Japanese achieved so far is awe-inspiring. I'm reminded that, after the bomb was dropped in Hiroshima in 1945, obliterating the entire city, they had the power restored to a large part of it within 2 days and the street cars running again.

    It's a work ethic they have, unlike the council who can take 2 days to badly fill a dozen potholes which the locals have been waiting for repair for 3 months. The only caveat is that the Council workers were brilliant during the snow in December. But, as a country, we really need to raise our standards.

    Our thoughts must be with the Japanese at this time though. Our worries pale into insignificance.
