Prices quoted online usually include local VAT. Wiggle and CRC are both registered for VAT in Ireland, and apply Irish VAT at a rate of 21% on deliveries to Ireland, whereas the price quoted for UK customers includes VAT at 20%.

You can get the price for Irish customers by changing the settings on both websites - you can indicate delivery would be to Ireland, and the website automatically updates the price

These are the only two cycling websites that I am aware do this (other large retailers, such as Amazon, are required to apply the same rules)

The difference in price on most items is minimal (about 1%) - helmets are the main exception, as UK consumers can purchase them with a zero rate of VAT

There are no customs duties due on purchases from within the EU

Irish VAT and duties are due on purchases from outside the EU

I got a bike from Wiggle and it was pretty much built, just had to turn the handlebars and put on the wheels iirc. I'm 6' and have 56cm bikes so 55.5 should be ok but you'd be better off trying it out before you buy if at all possible.

Wiggle (and some others) ship the bikes almost fully assembled. Many others ship them as they come from the manufacturers, which is generally partially assembled, although the amount of assembly required can vary greatly. Best check with the shop.
