like godtabh mentioned! Turn it off...boot it up...test out 3g/Wi-Fi to make sure they both work!

Sounds expensive for second hand one, what specs? considering the prices the new ones are going for to clear them before the launch of the ipad2 I means.

As others are saying, you should probably go lower about 250. Brand new one from Apple is 379 euro. Refurb 3G 16gb with a new battering, casing and full warranty comes for 459 euro. Taking into account that 3G usually warrants a 100 euro premium, Apple were selling a 16gb wifi refurb for 339 euro.

    Apple refurbished

    Definately go lower.

id say if you could wait until the ipad2 is lauched here then people will start selling their original like crazy and you'll get it for €250

Thats a good point, its still 12 days to the launch so you will see a glut of them on ebay next week and then even more the week after. Get your €350 back and then offer the €250 people as suggested. The closer to the launch the better to get a bargain. Its up to you, and how keen you are in having one in your hand now :D

yeah..... everyone take note.... it's coming out on the 28th March....

*hopes he's the only one in the queue on the 25th March!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 961 ✭✭✭gingernut79

I paid 300 for one today. sold listings on ebay seem to be making well over that and havent seen any for less than 300 on adverts either. I got the box, VGA cable adapter and a rubbery cover along with it. I thought that was ok. been looking for over a week.

where did you get yours? ive been looking for 2 weeks and nothing really, except for the one i mentioned. does yours have warranty?

donedeal. wasnt expecting to get it at all, was sure the guy would have his arm taken off for it at that price. lucky enough, he met me halfway with it too (me in sticks, him in dublin). not sure about warranty. he said I could buy one myself, if I wanted it.

I picked up a 16gb 3g model for €300 last week. 10 months warranty left on it and seems to be in fine working order so far. I was getting a 64gb 3g for €415 but decided against it as I probably wouldn't use the extra space, and hadn't got the spare cash.

That's the most savvy point made! If you have waited this long for a second hand one, waiting a short while longer ain't gonna kill ya, then you will get a far better deal.

    I swapped my ip4 for a 2month old 32gb 3G-wifi with an apple case :)
Was that a deal or no deal?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 132 ✭✭jamesbrond

im gonna put up my wifi only/ 16GB on for €300 if I can get it. Going to get a xoom.
I'll be putting the ad on adverts today. I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully it will be €280 plus it goes for.

Most of the people here will look on adverts.ie

Based on this, the iPads are being sold in a closed Market of sorts, therefore sellers look for the price the last model sold for, and buyers look to match or slightly undercut this figure. Outside adverts, I believe there may be a better chance of getting a deal...Adverts.ie is almost too transparent and has the effect of keeping the prices artificially high.

I bought a 4 mth old 16gb wifi last week for 250, impulse buy by the original owner so it was hardly used. 300 is too much

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 961 ✭✭✭gingernut79

Maybe I was a bit flathulach so....

Still I got one. The looking is head wrecking. ebay, donedeal, adverts and back to ebay again.

A few months ago, I would have agreed with you about the 100 euro premium for the 3g model. But now that the iphone has a wifi hotspot, it negates the need for the 3g model ipad.

Saying that, I bought the 3g ipad 2, but that is because I spend a lot of time in the US and data is cheaper that way.

    That's a good deal.

What I do not undertsand is why someone paid €450 for that 3 months ago, knowing that he would sell it in such a short period of time (perhaps to buy iPad 2).

That is €170 cheaper, the equivalent to have paid nearly €60 per month to use the iPad.

It is incredible how people waste money these days...

€499 for that 3 months ago, so he got it €220 cheaper, although brand new they were down to €379 recently. A few people around here were boasting about how they were going to sell theirs for only a €50 loss, and buy a new iPad2........The price drop came as a bit of a shock, I'd imagine:cool:

The Price drop would not have been so severe for used iPad if apple didnt sell new ones so cheap. I kind of felt bad for people who were selling their iPad because they had to undercut apples prices. Apple have never done that before so it was completely unexpected. The only discounts they offer were on refurbished goods.

I was given an iPad 3g as a gift last summer , cost £520 pounds new i think, i sold it for 350 euro, its the price hit you take when you wanna sell and upgrade, if you don't wanna take the hit , don't sell:P

He bought it for his wife for Christmas but she didn't use it,she prefered her iMac and MacBook air so it only meant sense for them to sell I suppose. They were apple fanatics :)
