    Hya,

I have a BMW 316 (2001) and because I had accident my insurance is sky high, then tax, petrol prices.. It just adds up..
I am thinking to replace it with smaller engine car, maybe Opel Astra diesel or Mazda3 ? Would anyone have any suggestions?

    Cheers

How much have you got to spend?

Saving may be minimal getting a smaller engined car, probably 20% at most, most of the cost you are being quoted is for lack of no claims bonus, not much to do with the car.

Well, because I'm under 25 I think I would save a little more than that..

    I'm thinking to spend €5-6k..

you won't be able to save a whole lot. why spend 5-6k to save a few hundred?

Only in backward old Ireland is a 1.9 a "large" engine though:)! Even in Europe that's an average size engine and in every other continent it's a small engine!
