Does anybody have any experience of CRC's price match procedure? Yesterday I notified them of 3 items that were cheaper on Wiggle with the result today that 2 of the items on Wiggle have actually been increased in cost to almost match CRC.
CRC declined the price match because I didnt provide an exact weblink to the item, only to the Wiggle website !! The last item is a new chainset I want to order which hasnt changed on price yet but CRC have declined the price match due to the reason above , I hope I havent screwed myself up !! Its the last time I'll be alerting them, the only reason I did was that Wiggle didnt have some of the items I was ordering and if CRC price matched then it made life easier.

Did the Wiggle sterling price change or was it just the effect of exchange rate variations?

The Euro has taken a bit of a pounding recently.

The sterling price changed, in one instance it changed from £24 to £27

for chainsets also check out bike24.com. I got the 53/39 6700 for over 50/60 quid cheaper than any of the Irish and UK sites! they also do a price match and in my instance i was also getting chain/cassette/BB, i found one of them a fiver cheaper on another german site and they matched it :)

Just be sure to use Paypal when buying from CRC. I bought new tyres off them two weeks ago. My credit card was hacked last night and someone tried to use it in London. CRC have big CC security problems.
See previous post for more details.

This is getting way off-topic for this thread but buying from CRC and your credit card subsequently being hacked does not prove that CRC was the cause of your card details being exposed. At best you can say that it might have been CRC. It might also have been any other site/person you provided your credit card details to, or a hack of the systems of your credit card provider, or a hack of the systems of VISA/Mastercard/whatever, some dodgy software that has managed to install itself on your PC, etc., etc.

Even the timing cannot be relied upon as an indication of the source of the exposure as your card details might have been exposed some time ago but are only being used now. Credit card hacking is a very profitable and busy area of activity, cards are hacked every day and on a large scale. It is very annoying to have your card hacked, but it is certainly not unusual.

Your credit card details were stolen, not 'hacked'.

Why didn't you email them back with the correct weblinks?

Here's what it says on the CRC website about price matching:
We do our best to keep our prices as low as possible. But if one of our competitors goes lower, we'll be more than happy to investigate matching their price. Keep in mind, though, that price-matching isn't always as simple as it appears. We like to make sure we're matching apples-to-apples when we compare prices, for example we shall only ever price match other online UK cycle retailers. Please contact us so we can advise you for each individual case.

I've just asked them to price match Ribbles price on a certain item. Haven't had a response yet.

Dont bother buying from CRC or Wiggle, go to rosebikes.co.uk you will not get stuff cheaper anywhere, they are even cheaper than bike24, delivery on most items is only €5.95 and takes about 4 days.

CRC price match is rubbish compared to evanscycles , they declined the first price match submitted it on a Monday and then submitted again on Tuesday as heard nothing back , first one declined , second one approved a day later , too late at that stage cant wait 4 days for a price match

    rubbish
