    Hi,

I live in Dublin and am looking for a dentist who can provide me with a zirconia dental implant. I'm willing to travel and pay good money for this! I have a dentist in Germany who can do it for me but obviously it would be easier to get it done in Ireland or the UK.

Any info or contact details would be a massive help.

    Cheers smile.gif

I would not touch a zirconia dental implant with a barge pole. All the evidence at the moment has shown a large percentage of complications and failures. All the evidence says avoid. Can I ask why you want this type in particular rather than a standard titanium implant? Is it a zirconia crown and abutment your after? If its the metal your worried about Zirconia is Zirconium dioxide, Zirconium is a metal also. Its titanium dioxide on the surface of a titanium implant that integrates so there really is no difference.

There might be somebody in Northern Ireland doing Zirc implants but no-one in the Republic, AFAIK. Zirconium will integrate, some evidence to suggest that it is tolerated even better than titanium (if that's even possible) but that its physical properties are poor, in other words, they break. There's even one surgeon in the continent who scans the roots of the extracted tooth, mills an analogue and puts the analogue into the socket two days later and uses that as an implant. Experimental is the only way it can be described. Lets just say that some surgeons like to put anything where there is bone without much regard as to whether a tooth can be put on it successfully later...

Anyone have a milling unit/lathe that is up for large scale implant production? I have a design in mind for an implant machine gun.
