Batteries 50D & 7D Compatable

    Hi Can the batteries in the Canon 50D be used in the Canon 7D

    No. The 50D is an older model and uses a BP-511a battery while the newer
    7D and 60D use a LP-E6

    Beware some of the spurious 7D-compatible batteries on eBay, too. They won't work with the Canon charger - a right royal pain in the arse. The camera also won't be able to tell how much charge is left in them. They're cheap, but nasty.

    I have tried cheap ebay batteries on my 40D - and you are right, they represent even worse value for money (at eu5) than the OE canon battery ( at eu100 or so) .

    I have found duracells to be quite good though, about eu30-40 for the 40D, from batterycity.ie, no idea what the 7D story is here.
