So i'm currently IT contracting. I detest it with a passion, but the money is pretty decent.

I've been offered a Full Time position doing something that I really really enjoy, but the money is a few hundred euro less a month.

Pros are that All travel expenses in new position are covered, as is phone. No shift work, but less overall money.

I suppose the ONLY con is the less money.

What would you peeps do? A job you enjoy for less money, or an unstable job you hate with considerably more?

    Less money, no question.

Job satisfaction for me is a big perk of any job! I was doing a job for more money than my previous job and I was seriously unhappy. The questions I'd be asking :

How long can you do your current job before it destroys your soul!
    Will the contract last long?
does the new job offer better prospects?

Also as you said, travel and phone expenses are covered ... that would equate to a couple of hundred quid a month for me. Good contract money is well and good in the short term but you have to think long term too.

    Cheers for the comments!

Yea the current contract is very up in the air..."take another month...here's another two but that's it...actually, we need you for one more month..."

It's a pain in the rear!!

Other job is in a totally different direction, and could help towards quite a few things that I'd consider!

Permanent seems to be the way forward for sure :)

A few hundred euro a month seems a small price for job satisfaction, in my opinion. Nothing you buy with the money will be as valuable as that.

If you can afford the drop in wages without too much hardship then it is a no brainer, go for the permanent role. I have only just got a job after six months on the dole so you are taking a big risk staying in the temporary role because if they do let you go you could be out for a while.

You said you "detest your current job with a passion". That would be enough for me, life is short enough without adding extra stress and unhappiness on top.

Cheers guys, genuinely appreciate the advice. I was bashing myself a little bit due to the money aspect...but good to know my gut instinct is the right one!
