Can I bring a suit in a suit bag on as hand luggage or would it be considered to big?

Depends on the airline. If you can squeeze it into their sizing frame if requested, you should be okay. It tends to be cases their more concerned with.

I carry them in garment bag mostly. A reasonable-sized garment bag is probably much better than an oversize roller, even though the dimension of the bag may be over. They fit into the overhead bins easily and protect suit from getting wrinkled. I personally recommend Briggs & Riley garment bag, that specially designed in such a way that you can pack a suit easily and minimize wrinkling.

    Thanks
