I know you have to own a car for 18 months to scrap it, just wondering if dealers are strict on this? or is there any leaway?

own a car for 11 months, was mine last 3 years, but in my stepdads name prior to that for insurance reasons.

missus wants a new car so interesting in scrapping it.

    cheers

It's not the dealers, its revenue that are strict.

What about dealers offering their own "scrappage" offers that don't fit the revenue criteria? I have started looking for a car and will be trading in a 02. I was hoping to get the dealer scrappage on this,

Scrappage offers like that are usually just discount. Renault are giving scrappage on newer cars, but scrappage on used cars screams inflated asking price

The car has to be insured in your name for at least 12 months in the 18 months immediately before the date of scrappage.
