My mother's upper lip was burnt during a lip wax and she was left with deep lines above her lip when the strip removed a layer of skin once they pulled if off.

She is very self conscious of how it looks , does anyone know of a good foundation that might minimise how bad this looks?

Was this very recent? if so it's best left to heal and only apply antiseptic creams.

It happened Christmas week, the burn has healed but she is very self conscious of the lines that are left - she has tried several foundations but nothing is working - I got her to try Bio Oil etc but it is really upsetting her now.

Would a primer/filler be better to use, then a foundation on top? The only thing is, with the amount of movement around your mouth, I don't know if anything will stay on well. Vichy do a foundation for over scars/birthmarks, I haven't tried it personally, but it is supposed to be very good.

Tell her to keep on using the oil it will be good to keep moisture in the area and help for any scaring.

Before she goes buying the makeup for covering scars (which is expensive) would she try getting her makeup done by a professional? They could tell her the best way to conceal and apply for best results. The makeup for scars is quite heavy and really for bad scaring and birthmarks ...it may well draw more attention to the area ....

Lets us know how she gets on...

p.s - did she place a complaint with the salon?

No she thought she left it too long - I have been at her to try the makeovers at the counter since she would get an idea of what would work but she hates the thought of sitting at the counter, I might bring her somewhere first thing some morning when there are fewer people about, thanks for the replies I will keep working on her so that she will do something about it instead of stressing about it as she is as the moment, thanks

I am horrified to hear what happened your mother at the hands of a beautician and I certainly do not think it is too late to pursue this matter. Beauticians should have insurance to cover claims.
Has your mother seen a doctor/plastic surgeon about her lip, it may be worth it in the long run for her confidence most importantly but also the cost of buying camoflague make up.
There is a camoflague make up you can buy called Veil. I think you can buy it in Salon supplies shop such as Flair or Salon Services. This is designed to cover things like scars, tattoos etc.
