twin blocks and wisdom teeth

So back when I was 11 I got twin blocks (and a 5 year saga with a shambles of man calling himself a dentist ), followed by train tracks on my upper teeth.

Happy days, bite seemed fine and after 6 years I had correctly alligned, somewhat straight teeth (he managed to screw up straightening them)

Problem is, my wisdom teeth are just about entirely down now and I dunno if it's coincidence, but my jaw is sitting much farhter forward than it had at the end of the treatment. To the point that my bottom teeth are pushing forwards quite forcefully on the inside of my upper teeth. My bite is awful - forget molars even being close to each other - my front teeth natually sit edge to edge!

Has anyone heard of this happening after twin blocks before? (I'm 22 atm fyi) Worried that I'll have to have the thing reversed and that my top front teeth will go really buck

    Hi

I cannot say what your best course of action is without examining you. As a general rule, the lower incisors should bite inside the upper ones and not edge-edge.

Twin block appliances are usually used in young patients with prominent teeth and from what you say you had prominent teeth

You are 22 so at this stage your jaws are fully grown and it is unlikely that the wisdom teeth have affected your jaw growth. The best thing to do is to discuss with your dentist or orthodontist and take it form there

    good luck
