Anyone here with those big metal tanks? Is Gas sold by the Kilowatt or by the Litre? A friend of mine is thinking about renting a house that has a Bulktank gas supply so I was wondering!

It's to be found out in the rental contract:
Who owns the tank, how energy usage is billed.

Bottled gas is sold by weight, while bulk gas is sold by the litre.

The SEAI have a current fuel cost comparison here.

This shows the cost of LPG to be 12.7cent/kWh, compared to say 8.3 for oil or 5.5 for natural mains gas. Having LPG gas does allow for the use of a modulating boiler which matches it's output more closely to demand, so the difference between LPG and oil may not be as great when the total system efficiency is considered.

The tank may be bought outright, or rented.
