The last chimney cleaner I used cost €60 per chimney. I bought a rod and brush set in Woodies for €36 and now I do it myself. Simples.

I used http://www.dublinchimneysweep.com/ (think he was recommended somewhere else on boards). Professional, on time, polite. Nice bloke. Seemed to be in line with other prices around.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, I could have sworn I used boards to find a sweep but I can't find the thread they are mentioned on so I am sticking it in here for future reference.

I used http://www.apexcleaning.ie/ - €50 for one chimney. I've never lit a fire in the 10+ years I've lived here so I was somewhat wary of how the cleaning might go - plus I have a lovely white room! But the lad who came was great, he used this system of a board with sponges around it that fits up against the fireplace. It has two holes in it - one is for the hose from a massive standing vacuum and the other is for the poles of the sweeping brush. So basically he works his way up the chimney by adding poles, all the while the vacuum is taking in the soot that falls down. It took about 20 mins in total and he left my room in the same condition it was before he arrived.

I suspect this system is pretty standard but just to let you know my personal experience with this particular crowd.

Just to follow up on this. On Phibsboro's recommendation, I had these guys out to clean my chimney over the weekend. They did an amazing job! So clean and quick and at such a good price too. I'd definitely recommend them!

I'm popping in to recommend http://www.apexcleaning.ie/ also - saw them in this thread, booked them, and was delighted with their service.

Do apex examine the structure of the chimney to check all is well?

I found a great guy this week, two of them arrived covered most of the room and taped another cover over the fire opening. They took down half a black bag of soot (the shame) and when they left you would never know they had been there. Best €40 I have spent recently. They were called needasweep.com

Do they all do the chimney of a built-in stove? Or do I need a specialist?
