I just dropped my iPhone and the screen is badly smashed. There's tiny bits of glass falling from it. It's not insured. What are my options (apart from crying like a child).

Is there a third-party repair service in Ireland? (Dublin preferably)

Smashed mine last december and these guys replaced the screen for me.
Sadly the screen for the iPhone 4 is much more costly than the 3.
Including VAT it worked out at 180 euros.
First class job and have had no issues since.
Not a job you would take on yourself .

Looking at the estimated price of doing it yourself on http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-iPhone-4-Display-Assembly/3148/1 , I'm guessing you may as well pay for somebody else to do it, unless you want to save €40 or so.

Ah yeah, I'll have to splash the cash. It is expensive, but you can't blame guys for making a fast buck from idiots like me. :p

It is surprisingly easy to change out the screen & LCD , even easier if its just the glass screen that broke and not the LCD aswell .

    It takes a whole 5mins .
    • Pop out 2 screws .
    • Unplug 3 ribbon cables
    • Remove screen
    • Put in 3 ribbon cables /replace screen
    • put back in screws
    • end.

EDIT: Oops that how to do the 3GS ..4G is a little more harder , but not rocket science.
