Have about 3000 shares in Irish life and permanent.
Bought in a while back at 77cents,whatsxtge likely outcome for the bank and should I cut my losses now as after the stress tests the situation could be very negative for investors.
    Any advice

Wow, 3000! I managed to get 300 free shares back in the early 90s for being a customer. Saw the slow rise up to €22 and the sudden crash to 45c. My heart goes out to ya dude! :(

Would be very interested in any info on whats going to happen for us shareholders.

Is'nt it just wonderful how our new gung-ho Govt. won't burn the bondholders, yet they are happy enough to let hundreds of thousands of shareholders in PTSB sink without trace with their decision to make them sell off Irish Life. There is'nt a hope in hell the shares will increase in value any time soon.:mad::mad:

I'm not on about the pros & cons of investing. My point is that the Gov's decision to let PTSB flow with the wind has burned the owners. I'm comparing that decision with the reluctance to do as they had promised to the bondholders:mad:

There was a woman from CNC Markets who was on Vincent Browne the Thursday just gone after the latest bailout cost after the stress tests were performed was announced. She actually said in one of her last comments 'who's going to touch the banks tomorrow', not literally word for word, but that was the sentiment. Couldn't believe she came out with it.

Look, mate. We've had a lot of debate on Irish banks. I'd say that 90-95% of the people on here who actually understand investing would have told you that all the Irish banks were either entirely worthless, or virtually worthless.

The Irish government didn't cause you to lose money, you lost it when you invested in a bank that was clearly finished.

    330 shares @ 15cent each makes €49.50 or €148 in total?

Commission on selling them will cost around what €20?

If it were me I'd put the bit of money into something that has the potential of multiplying over the next few years - riskier yes, but not as risky where the money is right now imho

Investing should have being made a subject in secondary schools years ago.

    Backward Irish education system.
