Having gombeen relatives

Now before I start I will just say that I hardly know these people so its exactly this fact that it has only been brought to my attention recently that many of them are Fianna Fail/ property developers and dare I say running candidates and all out gombeens. I will not mention this candidate, but I felt like puking my guts after reading some of the crap in this candidates electoral manifesto. Nothing but pure Fianna Fail gombeen nonsense to get into office.

Another relative I hardy ever see is a property developer, and I presume is also Fianna Fail. I on the other am a social democrat and believe in good government and a fair society. I would generally describe myself as Labour in an election because I genuinely believe (and I’m sure many will disagree with me) in putting people and the country first.

In terms of my politics and beliefs, I could not be further removed from Fianna Fail gombeen politics, but I now have to live with the fact that some of my relatives are developers/ formers running FF candidates. I will be blatantly honest in saying that I feel disgusted because I firmly believe that it is this sort of people who have wrecked the country, and yet I feel party guilty even as a Labour, social democrat because of the likes of people like my relatives making a mess of the country.

What would you do in this situation, because for me it is one thing to watch the country been destroyed by gombeens/ developers and whatever else. But the thought that some of my own relatives are in this game is enough to send shivers up my spine, and to be honest feel ashamed of myself.

you need to stop supporting labour as the party that puts the people first. They don't - they are just the "rebel teen offspring" of FF and FG who will tow the line once they are given a bit of power. If you want to really put the country first you should not be supporting ANY of the three top parties in Ireland.

To be honest, if a political party doesn't have phrases such as "anarchy" and "watching the world burn" in their manifesto then I just don't see the point.

Such nonsense? Right then I suppose you would feel ok wouldn’t you if your relatives were running for office in one of the most corrupt organisations on earth and running on a manifesto that is pure nonsense to get into office. Then to be that another relative is a property developer even when you are angered at the mess these people have made of the country.

I basically have relatives that are a part of the very system that has destroyed this country and I am disgusted by it to honest. It’s easy enough to criticise FF and Developers as voters and commentators, but it’s another matter when some of these people are your relatives.

what my relatives run for is their business, If it is not affecting my life then I don't care.

I don't understand what your problem is. They're your relatives, not you. Find something more worthwhile to be embarrassed about.
