Desperately seeking engine - Renault Kangoo

    Hi All,

My mothers business van has packed in, and needs a new engine. I'm steadily making my way down a 3 page list of part dealers/dismantlers/breakers but I'm really not having much luck. This particular model of Kangoo seems to be rarer than hens teeth.

If anyone knows where I can find one for sale, or has one themselves, both I and and my Mum would appreciate it so much - not to mention the poor mechanic brother who's been crisscrossing the country looking for one!

    Details:
    02 Renault Kangoo
    1.5 DCI
Starter is on rear of engine
turbo must be on the engine
    Engine code: K9K704

Mods, if this thread is inappropriate, my sincerest apologies - I read the charter and I think I'm ok, but you never know :)

Yep, I've a humungous list in front of me printed off that website, and I'm making my way down them. I've people trying to sell me Megane engines and the brother was shown one the other night that was made entirely of rust and slime. Kangoos can't be that uncommon, can they?

    Engine code might be handy.

is that engine not in the clio as well?

There are 4 different possibilities for the engine code,
    K9K700
    K9K702
    K9K704
    K9K710
This in on the front of the block.
These are fitted to clio and kangoo only, all the meganeII are dfferent.
You also need to be aware that the injectors are coded on this and would have to be done if your putting in s/h engine complete.
TBH I dont think this would be an economic fix on a 9 year old kangoo.
What happened the original engine? ran on its own oil?

Another suggestion might be to buy a complete van. A lot of esb and eircom vans are auctioned off in some place in Cavan.
I know a guy who has the breakdown recovery contract for these and he was telling me that they sell for extremely low prices. Sometimes there does be damaged vans among the good ones... Possibly a source for an engine if all else fails??

Agreed not worth fixing because of cost of fixing and time spent looking for a new engine. Its a work van so its needed for your mother. Some nice clean 01-02 Kangoos on Donedeal 1500-1600euro with a full test.

On the other hand unsure if the new van would new signage on the sides and cost involved in that.

Evenutally found the engine code: K9K704 - wasn't in the logbook for some reason.
Brothers already tried Traynors - no luck.
Thing is the back of the van is fully lined and the signage is already on it so we'd like to try the engine road first if at all possible.
Thanks for your replies so far though :)
