While a lot of people were convinced, I always suspected.

She was clearly acting like what she viewed a religious nut job would be like rather than actually being a religious nut job. She had none of the classic randomness of someone who is genuinely unhinged (of which YouTube is full). Difference between someone parodying Charlie Sheen and actually being Charlie Sheen. It is true what they say, fact is stranger than fiction.

Religious folk or those who have family in Japan and are not so appreciative of all the humour flying about, currently?

Probably. Though I think that idea will piss atheists off a bit less than the idea that she was a Christian pissed off the Christians :pac:

I really don't get people getting p1ssed off about stuff like this. You think people like this don't exist? What p1sses me off though, is when some bozo thinks that if they find people like this who are genuine, that it somehow undermines Christianity, or any other religion for that matter. Using such things a stick to beat anyone is ignorance and laziness of the highest order.

Sorry what was that, she's an atheist??? Oh right. Well yeah, as I was saying, this video shows how atheists are tasteless, immoral monsters.:pac:

That is the thing. Atheists care less about the idea that atheists are tasteless immoral monsters. Its like 'Meh, are they supposed to not be?' :pac:

I would hazard that there are plenty of fundi religious that actually believe the type of thing that she said, and if they could work out how to do it, they would probably post on youtube.

Don't worry they don't need YouTube, they've got a large chunk of American media.

I thought it was funny enough, but it became much more funny when people started taking it seriously.

I can see why it would be distasteful to those with family in Japan, but it would a bit if a stretch to expect anti-Christian internet warriors to be tasteful, wouldn't it?

If she pissed off 4chan she wont get away so easily.

They'll find her. And then they'll ruin her life.

Maybe she's trolling about being a troll. I hate when trolls do that.

I was linked a very large thread on 4chan about her before she came clean. When a lot of the internet was talking about if she was legit or not the majority on 4chan had decided and were singing her praises for being an amazing troll. If they didn't want to do anything then when there was still a possibility that she was really like this, I couldn't see them doing anything now.

    No they won't.
And anonymous does not = 4Chan.

She'll get some nasty phone calls, some hate mail and that's it... They will forget about her in a few days.

calling them a group is massively flawed... Its not organised... There is no members... It's pretty much just a swarm or people who united for brief periods under the banner. I, for instance was involved with the chanology raid but not many others.
I avoid the pointless crap and the evil stuff. I do support stuff like chanology and anti-censorship raids etc...

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 18,300 ✭✭✭✭Seaneh

oh, and its usually 'directed' by a handful of people from certain IRC channels and then they target the Chan's for support. And the masses follow.

I know a few people who have been very close to serving serious time in the U.S., Canada and Europe for their parts in various raids.

I used to have a pretty well rounded interwebs presence.

What's frightening is that its hard to tell the difference between an obvious troll and a geniune fundamentalist. Hmm... bit of a paradox there too.

No, I don't know of any sane person who thinks they are trolls. They are genuine bona fide fruitcakes.

Ever heard of Nephelimfree on youtube?

There's one guy who's so bizarre I find it hard to believe he's genuine, yet apparent'y he is.

Now do you see my point about the blurred line between a good troll and a genuine fundamentalist?

Yeah if Nephilimfree is a troll he's really only fooling himself at this point. Though he does wind up the aetheist/scientist community somethin' shockin'!

That's generally the point with genuine fruitcakes. They're crazier than trolls who are just pretending.

    No, I don't.

Anyone with half a brain could tell that the girl was a troll, that Phelps is a fruitcake, and that neither is a genuine fundamentalist.

She was a troll. Acting like a fundamentalist. The Phelps family are at least as bad as she is Glen Becks is as bad as she is, George Bush and people who actually voted for George Bush are as bad as she is. On youtube, VenomFangX, NephilimFree, Geerup. All as bad as she was.

What's the difference between a fruitcake and a fundamentalist to you?

I see - a large proportion of adults in the US are "as bad as she is".

A fundamentalist is someone who believes in five fundamental Christian truths: the inspiration of the Bible by the Holy Spirit. the virgin birth of Christ, Christ's atoning death, the bodily resurrection of Christ, and the historical reality of Christ's miracles. That's how the term was coined.

I've been beating around the bush presenting statements as questions.
Fundamentalists are complete nutjobs. No matter how crazy troll girl could have acted she still wouldn't stand out as a troll because fundamentalists are actually worse than her.
Any fundies in here? You're the laughing stock of the planet.

Here's a link to a fundamentalist Christian thread on how to recognise homosexuals.

Now I'm beginning to think you're a troll. The Landover Baptist Church is a well-known satire site.

Sorry, sir, but you can't just call people with opposing views to yours trolls and you can't just try to combat free speech by pointing the finger at someone and calling them a troll.
It's not how civilized discussion works.

You are of the opinion that satiirical parodies are distinct from reality.

Therefore you recognise that Landover Baptist is not a real church.

I think he was being rather kind in calling you a troll. The alternative would have been to insult your intelligence by implying that you are genuinely unable to recognise that the Landover Baptist thing is a parody.

Didn't stop Thunderf00t making a video about it. Love how, he focuses on the utters extremes of religion.

I like to think I always suspected her as being an imposter but to be honest I still expect folks like Pat Robertson to come clean about some of their statements. I guess I have too much faith in my fellow homo sapiens.

I think this is a pretty unfair dichotomy you've set up PDN. Just because
CnB hasn't read that website X is satirical does not mean that because
he lacks this information his intelligence is demeaned in any way.

So either he was trolling because he picked a classic example of satiri-mentalists
or he genuinely didn't know it was fake (which doesn't invalidate the point
he was making about fundamentalists {no matter what meaning you attribute to that
    word ;)}
). Nobodies intelligence is being insulted here - except possibly
ours by reading some troll using a fake website to stir up trouble in
this thread (which I highly doubt was the case btw).

Because some are subtle and the differences are marginal?

I remember when Peter O'Toole read from Swift's Modest Proposal, around the time of the Ethiopian famine. He incurred boos from the audience (at the Gaiety?) who missed the satire and reacted angrily to the idea of eating the poor. But I digress.

Do we all assume she was/is an atheist then?;)

Have you seen her on other sites. She is a therapist in human behaviour both spiritual and physical.

She discusses various religions as well as relationships. I've not looked for a link and won't be, but I've seen this video a long time ago. I don't know the time scale, she looks much younger in the above vid though.
