Hi all ,this could of been dicussed already.I am new enough to cycling and bought Trek 1.2 alpha last year. Was just passing a bike shop last week and went in for a look.Might of been the worse thing I ever did.Now I have it in my head to upgrade. The guy in the shop is giving me a good deal.He is selling the Trek(compact) for €1780.He says its the last one at that price. Having searched various sites I know that it retails at €1999 here and in Evans its retailing at €2136.
Having done some research the wk-end I also like the Cube and it comes in at €2199 at cyclesuperstore but has an Ultegra groupset as appose Shimano 105 on the Trek.
Now I am only a recreational cyclists.Would do approx 40 miles every Sunday and hope to do Ring of Kerry etc ..so I know either bike would be fine for me.
Should I 1.Jump at the Trek Madone at that price
    2.Go for the Cube.
or 3.just keep my own bike as I also know it will probably do my needs.

    Any advice appreciated

What a nice position to be in!!

Bottom line..The Trek is at a great price (they must have removed the Lance tax at that price!) There is an independent seller up in the Royal County selling off Madone 4.7's (yes, multiple units in different sizes) new at 1650 euro.

If (and I stress If) you can afford to hang on to the 1.2, it makes a brilliant training base and you won't feel as afraid coming down a steep hill in the frost on your shiny Madone!!

I upgraded from a 1.2 to a second hand 5 series Madone (many thanks jdt!!) a couple of years back, and it was the best money I ever spent. You will also find that the Trek will probably have a better resale value..

Or go for this Canyon Ultimate CF 8.0 with full Ultegra for €1999. I spoke to a guy last november who replaced his Madone 6.9 (due to an over tightening of the seatpost mishap) with this and thinks it far superior. I've built up a bike with different components but with this frameset and love it.

Ride both bikes and see which one you prefer. I've a 4.7 and it's a great bike.

I have a cube agree gtc sl which I bought last November and I really love it, super light and very fast. I upgraded from a hack and I am delighted I did, I look forward to my next spin everytime now and am always looking to get out on it. Very happy with my cube

That lad is on Adverts with the Madone, lovely bike them.

There was a Crevelo for sale there on Adverts by BryanGiggsy so you might be able to get that if you have the readies! :)

Thanks for suggestions lads.I wont have the budget to hold onto my own Trek
although I would love to as its a great bike. Will have to put it up on adverts.Saw those bikes advertised .I have been following the one in meath for a while now but I think for that much money I would like to buy from shop near enough where I live .In case of any problems and future servicing etc.....
At the moment I am leaning towards the Trek mainly cause of the price.I am going to ring around tomorrow just to see what price I will be quoted .Can they come anywhere near €1780.

Got a Quote of €1700 for the Trek so I think that makes up my mind for me.Its too good to refuse and its the nearest shop to me as well.I have already bought 2 bikes off him in the past so that might of helped.
