    I'm looking at buying a 99, 00 or 01 Merc C220 or E220 cdi.

    Spending around 2.5k.

I need to pick up a cheap diesel as some pr1ck stole my ol' passat last week. I do a good bit of mileage so I want something fairly comfortable. But I would like something that is not going to cost me a fortune in a few months.

I know that with any 10 year old car, there is a chance that something will go wrong. My fear with getting an oldish merc is that if something does go wrong - will it cost me a fortune to get fixed. Should I just play it fairly safe and get another old passat or a Mondeo or something like that ?

    Thanks in advance
