Hi all, have been contemplating this gun for some time now, even bought the A&K version as a stop gap! I know it's in a totally different league to the RS but goddamn I love the SVD
Anyways has anyone any stories relating to this gun? Can you still get them? Can you order safely from RS or is there a supplier in Ireland that can get them?
Any info would be great even if you don't own one but dream of the possibility of ownership please feel free to discuss
    Thanks

I heard they have stopped blueing the steel on the newest ones and the finish does not look as nice.

Still would not turn one down though they are a lovely bit of kit.

they never blued the steel on the svd, the first few runs where a gloss black finish accurate to the early svd, after the v2 release they started to release the svd in matt black anodized finish , very hard wearing and accurate to the modern svd but not period correct to afgan conflict for example if your looking for that

the 56 and 56-1 for example had the bear metal finish, have not seen any of these in a matt finish yet so i believe the ak line retains the same finish ( im waiting for a couple of emails on this as im looking to buy an 56 but want it in the original finish )

the change in svd finish could be down to RS plan to release a couple of modern svds with polymer furniture and they just made all the finishes the same it could also be a problem with the original svd finish as tbh it was not as hard wearing as it should have been and had a tendency to wear off far to easily

i have some more information on the svd but i need to get to work so will post this afternoon :)

the rs svd thread on arnies covers a lot of info http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=169473&st=320
