Does anyone on here have a rabbit pen? I was watching David Lissett springer spaniel training DVD & was thinking about a small scale one

    Hello fallow
A rabbit pen is an enclosure with wild rabbits. These are used to train dogs how to pick up the sent of a rabbit and flush them out into the open. They are also useful getting a dog to obey commands while the distraction of rabbit sent is all around

If you got permission from your local club to go down to one of their pens when they have birds in it it might do the same job. Granted they might not be mad about you going there with a dog but it might work out. You could get the dog walking to heel through it and maybe retrieving a dummy. Just an idea.

    Thanks blackstairsboy
A very good idea, but I'm afraid this is not an option for me as I am not a member of a gun club, I was just thinking out loud. I am sure there was many's the dog well trained without a rabbit pen:)

an over grown back garden will do the same job as long as there are no escap routes get someone with ferrets to get you 3 or 4 rabbits let them go when your finished.... if your married say goodlook to that idea or if you know someone with a small orchard thats fenced in you could try them just use cut branches on the ground for cover if you search hard enough you will come up with something ...as you can see ive thought about this before the best one i found was an old handball alley with grass growing in it best of luck keep us posted if you come up with anything

    Thanks for the advice snipe
I have been putting some thought into it myself. I have 16 acres at the back of the house to play around with. I got my hands on some scaffold debris netting. I am thinking I will bury 18" under the ground which will still leave it 6 ft high. Am I breaking the law by keeping wild rabbits in captivity? What sort or area would I need?
