I'm trying to find our if people know of and are using teamer.net to alert their players to upcoming matches.

On the surface it seems like a brilliant free service but is there a catch? Has anybody any experience of it?

(Mod's - I've posted the same question in Soccer, GAA and Rugby to try to get as broad an answer as possible).

I use teamer for running a mini-soccer programme with over 150 kids.
It's great for organising the kids for training sessions and saturday matches.

    Positives
It cuts down on time taken to make sure the kids turn up for their fixtures
    Good for communicating with parents/kids
Great for notifying parents/kids about cancelled matches/training
    No cost to use

    Negatives
Parents/kids can see if they havent been picked for a match (although we try our best to rotate kids and give them all a chance)
I've heard some teenagers who use it complain about the cost of the text to respond (I think its the normal cost of a text but if you have limited credit on your phone it could be an issue, however they can always respond by email without it costing anything).
Sometimes the website runs a bit slow - but not really a issue as its free of charge

    Overall
I would recommend it for anyone trying to manage a team.
    I couldnt do without it.:)
