Lime weeping through stone !

    I am about to start the stone on my house,so just wondering does anyone know what causes the white lime streeks that you see in some houses faced in limestone and what do you do to stop it from happening. ???

    is it efflouresence??? a sort of chauky white stuff leaking out from joint like you would see on brick houses?? if it is use waterproofer in the mortar

    Have not done the stone yet but see some houses with these white streeks and dont want it on mine so looking for ideas to prevent it happening

    use waterproofer in the mortar when building to stop it.

    Get yourself a copy of the Homebond book and look up efflouresence.
    The key thing is proper storage of wall materials, and covering up of work from the elements as the wall goes up.
