iPod screwed?

    Hey everyone.

Last week my iPod started acting strangely last week. It took hours to back up when I attempted to sync (never actually finished backing up). It seemed fine afterwards then the next day I woke up and went to play music and it said there was no music on there. When I got home I synced it with itunes which said the songs were still there, so I took them off and went to resync them but it failed after like 90 songs. Apps were still working though. I decided I had to restore it but that did not work. It would make a tiny bit of progress for about a minute. I left it for 12 hours and it made no further progress after that. I brought it to compub today and they restored it and got it out of recovery mode for me.
It seemed ok until I tried to sync it with itunes this time and again it failed to sync music but apps are fine. It just says "required disk not found" The weird thing is songs will go on it but they won't be the songs when I play them just weird sounds.
Should I send it back to apple?

Its a 3 month old 32gb iPod touch 4th gen btw and isn't jailbroken.

thanks in advance for any help
