Delete or Not?

    Hey guys,

I had a rough falling out with a mate of mine in early October of last year. The reasons behind it are pretty complicated, but we were both in the wrong (whether he thinks that or not is irrelevant - I know we both made silly mistakes). Anyway, he is pretty active on FB and I see him leading this fantastic life and I'm pretty proud of him! The only thing is, I feel like I shouldn't be friends with him on FB or know how he is doing cause we don't speak. When in social situations we just say Hi, how are ya, and walk on.

I was going to send him an FB message just saying 'Hey dude, delete me if you want! No hard feelings'.. I know that might get a dialogue going which I'm happy to get involved with.

    Any thoughts?

Would you like to get back talking to him again.. it sounds like you would. Why not just send him a message along the lines of "hey, dude.. can we forget about it?"

If he hasn't deleted you yet, he might be thinking along the same lines...

What have you got to lose? If it gets thrown back in your face then at least you know you tried to build a bridge and will have no regrets.

    All the best.

Ya just talk to them and are how it goes. Maybe ye wont be as close or friendly as ye were but sure thats life. Be the bigger person and forget about it.

I wouldn't bother sending him a facebook to ask him to delete ya! If you want, you can delete him. But if you want to remain friends, why don't you send him a message?

    +1

Take a swallow and send him a message. If it was a good friendship, it should be worth taking a chance on saving it.

Agree with the above posters, dont send him a message saying that, that sounds slightly aggressive, maybe just say "how's things?" If he doesnt respond after a while, you've done your bit and at least you know you tried. But saying he can delete you, would sound to me like you're either looking for a fight or being petty.

I agree, a friendly approach would be the best.

I got a very formal reply from him that just accepted the apology and basically said 'have a nice life'. I don't mind, really. We haven't been friends for several months now.. I'll see if anything happens. I'm OK not being friends with him, I have loads! At least now I know I apologised and it's all I can do.

You've done what you can. You can do no more. Now you have closure.
