Peugeot rear axle

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice on what I should do. I have a peugoet 206cc and the rear axle is "gone". The garage has told me that I need a complete rear axle and it will cost 1400€. The reason for this is excessive movement in the axle.

I found a website that can send me a rear axle for 420£ delivered and get it fixed at my local garage for 200€. But as I don't have a clue what a rear axle is I am a little worried that I am getting the right thing.

If I ask for the company to send me a "complete rear axle" will I get all the bits required or is there still other things that I will need to get done?

Considering I will get a guarentee on the parts and labour from the peugoet garage, is it really worth the extra 700€ to get it done there? Or am I missing something huge as the price difference is so massive.

As you can tell I am completely clueless:confused:

in the peugeot axles the bushings are very soft and tend to go in every one of them Its a very labour intensive job so dealers tend not to replace the bushings. There is a fella on donedeal advertising reconditioned ones I got one off him a year ago and it was perfect.

If you phone him he will tell you what you need. You will have to get someone to fit it for you though.

Thanks- I did a thread search and came up with the guy, dropped my car down to him today- he will fix it for 450E so hopefully that will be the end of my motoring problems!
