And I presume you mean 'affect' not 'effect'. Go to class

Yes, attendance will be checked. Probably won't be, but sure what will you know.

Why are you applying for a grant (applying, not getting) when you obviously have no intention of going?

Probably because the OP feels entitled to it ....... Sure isn't that the way the welfare system works in Ireland ... You don't need to deserve it to be entitled to it.

Mind you ... I am nearly sure attendance is checked in order to get the grant .... Otherwise why would the state pay to facilitate your education when you don't actually facilitate it yourself

ehh i said affect????? Forgive me i may have mixed up two of the most commonly mixed up words in the English language. It probably is effect but pay attention to your own mistakes before you comment on mine.

    Look at the thread title.

Don't get arsey because you don't like the answers your getting, especially when its asking about fraudulently receiving a grant for college attendance while not actually attending said college.

    He meant the thread title.

I've never heard of a student's attendance being checked in order to recieve a grant instalment. Does your college take attendance?
In UCC hardly any lecturers ask for attendance. It's only the Maths lecturers it seems.

I attend limerick university.Attendance is only taken for labs and the few tutorials i have. Sofistikated i am not getting 'arsey'. I just believe that people should answer the question if they feel they can or want to. I don't believe people should make comments that do not help in anyway to someone who did not attending the second semester of college. I have not attended college due to the death of someone close, but i still have to pay rent for year as im on contract with thomond village

    Hi

If you are not attending due to a bereavement you need to go talk to someone probably student services. Depending on your circumstances there may be grounds for deferring this semester. That would allow you to attend it in 2011/12 with no fees implications. This is very important follow it up.

As regards on your grant it depends on your local authority they all operate differently is it paid direct into your bank account or do you collect from Registry. I think you need to talk to someone in the UNI asap, don't throw away your chance in college without thinking it through

    Best of luck

Infractions will be given and up to a ban for personal abuse towards others.

The OP was asking a question.

IF you cannot answer or contribute something worthwhile to the thread then you have no reason to post.

No more of this from now on.

That is not quite true. Don't be fooled by the lack of a 'roll call' or attendance sheet. As many of the non-core optional modules (some of which are 10 credits) have a continuous assessment element notice is taken of who attends and who doesn't. The marks vary from module to module - lowest is around 20% - if a student doesn't attend, they don't get those marks. The lecturers know who attends but don't take attendance as university students are considered to be adults - its not the job of lecturers to police attendance. The C.A. component of all modules is clearly outlined i the Book of Modules - the onus is on the student to attend.

OP - if you fail you will not receive either grant or fees to repeat.
