iphone 3gs wont charge

my wifes iphone 3gs wont charge. she had trouble getting the charger to go into it, but eventually got it in. i have tried charging it through the mains , through a pc and a docking station, but no joy. any tips out there folks?

There's probably fluff or something stuck in the connector at the bottom of the phone.

It happened mine too, and pushing in the cable only made it worse by compressing teh fluff inside.

If there is evidence of fluff or "foreign objects" in the connection:

I cut an old plastic ATM card to a J-point to hook out fluff etc. You'll need to thin it a bit with sandpaper to make it fit in one side, as it's narrower.
