I was made Redundant from my job just before Christmas and I thinking about applying to a Job Recruitment Agency, I'v been applying for job's from Fas and Irish jobs websites, But I dont even get a reply from any of them, ( I'm sure I'm not the only one ) I just want to Know,

If you got a Job through a Job recruitment Agency, What was the process like ??

Which is the best Recruitment Agency ??

Do they take a Cut from your Salary ??

Any other information would be great also..

    Thank's in Advance !!

Basically with recruitment agencies, they'll take your C.V. and probably arrange a meeting with them. Whereby you come in and have a chat with one of the consultants, they'll go through your C.V., have a general chat about what you want to be doing, or expand on your experiences.
Then they'll know what jobs will suit you when they come into them. They'll call you and see if you're interested, if so they will put forward your C.V. or ask you do to an online application etc. If you're successful you either interview with the company the job is with, or sometimes you just start a job (all depends really).

Recruitment agencies don't get a cut of your pay, persay, they're paid a % of your salary but that's paid by the company you're working for, not you.
So whatever rate the recruitment agency tells you the job will be, is what you'll get.

I was offered a further job with an insurance company whilst working there through a recruitment agency, the company said they could pay me more if I was employed directly (as obviously that would cut out the recruitment fee).

Regarding the best recruitment agency, it's really what you find yourself. I've been with a few, and one was crap a few years ago but now it's great. And one that was great back then is kinda crap now. It also depends on what areas you're looking to work in, some recruitment companies specialise in certain areas. For example, I would be looking for reception/admin type jobs and that agency may not cater for say labour work if you follow. You need to have a look at their websites or call them and see if they're in the right area. You also need to keep on top of them, not saying they're bad, but it's how it works too. You need to call every so often, remind them you're still available & what you're looking for, and ask is there anything. They probably have so many people at this point that it is a little difficult to keep up.

They can be quite good and you can be lucky and get temp jobs or long term jobs, there is no harm in being with one to get any extra help, as some companies don't put their jobs up everywhere, they might go to recruitment agencies only for certain jobs and get them to find someone. Rather than advertise.
