In terms of countries visited or nationalities you've met, who have been the funniest people with the best sense of having the craic?.

For me, although initially thought to be very rude some of the funniest people I've met were Israeli's.

After them I'd say (collectively) the Engish, Scotish & Welsh.... (fixed :p )

I think he's referring to Racquel.

Only someone who has never had any craic with the Germans could say that. It's a terrible stereotype that only reflects a minority of Germans.

Irish, English, Welsh and Scottish tbh for the craic especially drink related. Germans would be there towards the top too.

The people from Trinidad & Tobago. They even have a word for it - picong - and it's like a national sport.

    Libyans, believe it or not!

I was there in 2006. They were just great! Just a really friendly bunch of people, good fun, good company.

The Malagasy are also really really friendly. I highly recommend a visit.

Every country has funny people I'm sure.

I've had some great nights with Poles, Germans, Dutch and Norwegians - usually at football matches.

In fairness to the Germans (or any country),they could easily spend the night telling in-jokes with each other in slang versions of their mother tongue and chide us for not 'getting it'.

As far as the German sense of humour goes, I have to say they can be pretty darned funny at times, the problem is, that a lot of (especially older) Germans don't get the Irish sense of humour (but then again, the same can be said for a lot of other nationalities)

And believe it or not, there are quite a few brilliant German comedians out there

I always thought the Germans were good craic. They love their beer too.

If you could just fix it to read scoTTish as well then! :p

I think the irish are pretty funny - often without trying or meaning to. I like the self depreciating dry sense of humour, reminds me of home! :)

Pity you didn't get to visit outside glasgow...even then, my dad's best mate is a glaswegian catholic who is a rangers fan - and I married a catholic irishman and I'm certainly no celtic fan. Outside of a fanatical few the rest of the country couldn't give a toss - and in terms of football are usually united in their distain for the auld firm...but don't let the facts get in the way of a bit of sensationalist stereotyping! :pac:

Lived in Amsterdam for a while, the Dutch lads I worked with were great craic and knew how to drink! Also lived in London for a few years and the Brits really are the best for a laugh but I wouldn't tell them that, keep the fucckers in check.

    The Norwegians and Swedish IMLE.

The Jamacians, those lads be so crazy with their funny accents, silly long dreadlocks, their reggaaaae music, their love for smoking the cannabis and also raping and beating innocent women, great craic!

    The Norwegians and Swedish IMLE.

    I'm surprised at that.

I served oversea's with both and we often said you'd need a JCB to dig to find a bit of craic in them.

Don't they "lime" in TT, or is that just Tobago?

Irish by an awful lot if you're talking about the general populace, it's actually hard to meet an Irish person (at least, of my general age bracket) who doesn't have a pretty sharp wit.

I will say Ireland as well. I always say the sense of humour is the thing about Ireland I miss the most.

The people of Jersey Channel islands (Jersey beans) are a mighty laugh. They have this "We're islanders and we're all a bit mad eh" thing going.

Germans or Swedes for me. A few very good nights out in Munich and Stockholm has me converted. And Welsh people...

Finnish, not so much in my experience

I've met some genuinely funny Americans who can really take a joke and frequently take the p*ss out of themselves and all the American stereotypes, cleverly turning the jokes around on others. However, the English really are my favourites. Almost all the English people I've met are so funny. I love sarcastic wit, and really no one is better at that than the English. I think Irish people just tend to share a sense of humour with the English, Scottish and Welsh anyway, which is why I tend to get along with them better.
